Hiking & Biking
Meeker is surrounded by miles of some of the best hiking trails in Colorado, located just minutes from downtown. In the surrounding hills, just north of Meeker, the Phillip & Dorcas Jensen Memorial Park is 57 acres of rugged open space with groomed hiking and mountain biking trails for all skill levels. The trail system also provides access to additional BLM trails. Equestrian and motorized travel is not allowed on town trails. Trailheads with parking areas are located at Sanderson Hills Park and Ute Park. A pedestrian only trailhead can be found at the top of 7th street. Our extensive park and trail systems are slated for even more development in the future.
Trip Idea: Hike the China Wall trail to breathtaking views of Meeker from the northern bluffs.
The Blanco Ranger District maintains about 350 miles of trails in the White River National Forest with varying levels of difficulty and distance. Any hike that you select will take you through breathtaking scenery of Aspen groves, timber forests and wildflower meadows.
Trip Idea: Whether you consider it frightening, or thrilling, the Devil’s Causeway in the White River National Forest offers hikers one of the most spectacular views in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area.
On a hot day, hike under the trees along the banks of the South Fork of the White River, begin at the South Fork Campground.
